Happy Fall Co-op Community!

Greetings and Salutations,

It’s that time of year again! When we all complain about how much we miss the sun, and prepare to bunker down for an 8 month winter. Not really! It’s really only 6 months. Regardless of how we all feel about the end of the growing season, it’s time for new beginnings!

With the start of the Fall (arguably the best time of year), we have so many new co-op things! We are starting to see our produce section really blossom (haha) with all kinds of new squash, local garlic, local apples from Fix Brothers Farms, and most importantly POTATOES (boil em, mash em, put em in a stew!). Please be aware that this growing season was abnormally long, so we’re still seeing some produce a little out of season. Corn AND pomegranates AT THE SAME TIME!! It’s a blessing and a curse at times! Keep a look out for all your favorite seasonal produce coming into view.

We have a variety of seasonal items coming in (staff favorites include the Sea Witch Botanicals’ Samhain Incense and beeswax Jack-O’-Lanterns from Ithaca-based Sunbeam Candles), AND some new official NCFC Merch! We’re releasing sweatshirts in several colors that’ll keep you and your loved ones warm and cozy ALL season long.

In more business, TURKEY ORDERING IS UPON US! We’re partnering with Misty Knoll Farms again to get you the perfect holiday turkey for your special days. The turkeys will be $4.99/lb and come in sizes ranging from 11lbs to over 28lbs. Please be mindful that we cannot control how large or small your turkey will be, so order up or down depending on the amount of leftovers you want. There is going to be a $20 turkey deposit that will be credited upon purchase, and a signup sheet which will record your name, a way to contact you, and how large you want your turkey. We have a lot of new staff up front, and this will be their first turkey season at the co-op, so be patient and kind! We also would recommend ordering extra and freezing some, as this is the only round of turkey ordering we’re doing this year.

As we settle into a colder time of year, we’ll leave you with inspiring thoughts of baked goods, soft blankets, and feelings of community. Have a wonderful autumnal season!
